Questions about church and Yesu House
One of the most frequently asked questions is related to Yesu House affiliation and questions about church connections.
Is Yesu House a church?
This is one of most commonly asked questions. Yes, we are a church. Many of our members serve and participate in other churches as well, and are encouraged to do so. For some, Yesu House is simply a fellowship that enhances their discipleship they receive from other churches. For others, Yesu House is their primary source of Christian growth.
Can I be a member of other churches too?
While we are a church, we believe there is only one global church. Centered on depending on Jesus’ work to save us from the just wrath of God, all believers of Christ over all time are united by this. In addition, while there are many Biblical, Christ-focused churches in the Reno area, they should work together in unity, rather than play turf wars. The exclusion of “marrying” or participating in one church at the exclusion of all others is not Biblical. Some churches have even gone as far as to create the label of “church whores” to label anyone that is remotely interacting with other churches. The idea of competition within the church is a western marketing concept pulling customer loyalty desires that simply are not expressly mentioned in the Bible. The concept of exclusivity and marriage is strictly reserved for physical marriage. We each have multiple friends. We sometimes have multiple jobs. Our Christian body life should be integrated, like a network, perhaps with multiple congregations or friends networks. The greater the network of a spider web, the stronger it is. Same with our community life in Christ.
I am on OPT. Can I join?
Over the past 10 years, the Reno area has attracted major operations from global high-tech companies like Amazon.com, Apple, Tesla and more. Plus, it is becoming a regional hub for data centers in the current AI revolution. The Reno Nevada area has a growing number of incoming international students on OPT work extensions. While working here, consider a community to grow in your faith with Jesus. This will not only help your internship and work here, but long-term life, no matter how long you are in the USA. If you are already part of a church here locally, consider adding to your discipleship a community of like-minded fellow internationals whom you can grow in your faith with Christ.
